Sabrina Salerno, known in her singing career simply as Sabrina (born in Genoa, 1968), is an Italian singer,model, TV host and actress. After winning a beauty contest in 1984, the following year she made her television debut in the show “Premiatissima“. In 1987, she released her first album “Sabrina”, sung entirely in English. It included the smash hit “Boys (Summertime love)“, which achieved a great success, selling more than 1,5 million copies worldwide and reaching the top spot in Italy and France, and even n.3 in the UK singles chart, even though, or perhaps because of, video’s ban there.
Well, sure enough, a good part of the success of the song is due to its famous music video, in which Sabrina splashes in a swimming pool, while her bikini top keeps sliding down, revealing her nipples. It is also one of the most downloaded Italian music videoclips on the net.
Thanks to the big success of the album and her sexy image, she was invited to perform in several European TV shows and concerts such as the Montreux Pop Festival in 1988, and in 1989 at the Olympic stadium in Moscow, where 50,000 people gathered over three days to enjoy Sabrina’s music and show.
In the two following decades, although releasing several other albums and singles, she focused mostly on movies, theatre, and TV show hosting.
