Peppino Gagliardi has been on the boards since 1963. His career began in Napoli, where he was born, with his group called “I Gagliardi” played on his own name. After partecipating to several Festival di Napoli and Sanremo Music Festival in the 60′s, he finds a consciousness of his own musical and performing creativity.
The artistic watershed was actually the melodic and nostalgic “Settembre“, the first of a long string of hits. It became one of the best-selling songs of 1970, reaching #7 spot in the Italian singles chart. The clip is extracted from the TV song contest program Canzonissima, recorded in ’72.

Lyrics

Tra qualche giorno finira’ l’estate
e sulla spiaggia niente restera’
le ore passate
saranno un ricordo
che noi porteremo
lontano io e te…

L’estate se ne andra’
insieme al sole
l’amore se n’e’ andato
gia’ con lei
le prime gocce
baciano la sabbia
e stanno gia’ bagnando
gli occhi miei

Settembre poi verra’
ma senza sole
e forse un’altro amore nascera’
settembre poi verra’
ma non ti trovera’
e piangeranno solo
gli occhi miei

Settembre poi verra’
ma non ti trovera’
e piangeranno solo
gli occhi miei
e piangeranno solo
gli occhi miei
e piangeranno solo
gli occhi miei…
