Born in Naples in 1951, Massimo Ranieri is a greatly popular Italian pop singer, a film and stage actor, and a show-business personality. He was the 4th of eight children in the family. He started singing at the age of 10, at restaurants and wedding receptions. His career started at the age of 14, when he recorded his first 4 songs, but his road to success took the biggest turn in 1969 when he released several successful singles and participated in numerous TV shows, becoming the biggest teen idol of the late 60′s.
By the time he won for the 2nd time the Canzonissima song contest with “Erba di casa mia” at 21 y.o., he had already begun his acting career and his popularity was already at its highest point. The song also reached #2 in the Italian pop singles chart.
