Claudio Villa (Rome, 1926 – Padua, 1987) was one of the greatest Italian singers, mostly popular in the 50′s and 60′s. He was named “Il Reuccio” (The king) of the Italian music. He recorded over 3000 songs, sold more than 45 million records and shares with Domenico Modugno the record of most wins at the Sanremo Music Festival (4). His last performance at Sanremo as a guest singer is from 1984, where he sings “Un amore cosi’ grande“, a breathtaking lyrical tune already recorded by tenor Mario del Monaco, and subsequently, by Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli. Villa’s version doesn’t pale in comparison, and thanks to technology, he “duets” 13 years later with his daughter Manuela (Roma, 1966), whose powerful voice is a great match for her father Claudio.
