Le Orme (“The Footprints”) is an Italian progressive rock band formed back in 1966. Their most famous work, the concept album “Felona e Sorona”, was issued in English in collaboration with Peter Hammill of Van der Graaf Generator.
But it’s with their song “Canzone d’Amore“, which had a massive airplay in the summer of ’76, that they will reach their only #1 in the Italian singles chart. The single was not included in any album, and it was the precursor of a change of direction for the group, which, forced by the new musical tastes of the public, geared towards more into mainstream pop music.
This rare video shows Le Orme performing their hit in the internationally famous Verona Arena.

Lyrics

Amore mio
scrivo per te una canzone
lascio i problemi un momento
voglio pensare un po’ a te.
Ora sei tu l’unica cosa importante
l’unico vero messaggio
che la mia mente rincorre.

Sta girando il sole intorno a noi
senti il mondo che non grida piu’
ora ascolta le mie parole
fai posare la mente stanca
questo fragile amore folle
e’ tutto quel che hai
tienlo caro.

Sta girando il sole intorno a noi
senti il mondo che non grida piu’
ora ascolta le mie parole
fai posare la mente stanca
questo fragile amore folle
e’ tutto quel che hai
tienlo caro.
