Gigliola Cinquetti has participated at the Sanremo Music Festival 12 times, winning just once, at her debut, with the hugely popular song “Non ho l’eta’”. But after a 12-year hiatus, she made a big comeback in the competition with “Chiamalo amore” (“Call it love”), a romantic ballad which will earn her a noteworthy 3rd place and a good placing in the Italian singles chart, climbing up to #11. She would then return to Sanremo two more times, but with scanty success.
In the 90s she became a professional journalist and TV host, and she currently hosts the program “Italia Rai” on RAI International.
