Nomadi is a greatly acclaimed and famous Italian pop-rock and folk band formed in 1963 by keyboardist Beppe Carletti and singer Augusto Daolio. It’s most likely the longest-lived Italian pop group on the music scene.
Their first hits go back to the second half of the 70′s, and are considered like real anthems of the Italian beat generation. Their renowned “Dio e’ morto” (“God is dead”) was soon judged blasphemous by RAI and promptly censored, but was wasily broadcasted by Vatican Radio, which instead appreciated its content.
More and more hits will come in the 70′s, and although they were not much present on the charts, they kept enjoying a seemingly never-ending success among their fans, with songs that mostly promoted a message of denunciation and clean social commitment, never too political.
But in 1992 a tragedy was behind the corner: Augusto Daolio, the band’s charismatic frontman and music icon, died of an aggressive form of lung cancer, leaving in a shock and despair their fans. Nevertheless, the group decided to continue their music activity with a new convincing line-up and a new lead singer, Daniele Sacco.
Nomadi’s second life had so started. They began touring all around the world, promoting civil and cultural solidarity through their music and social commitment.
“Un giorno insieme” (“A day together”) is their 1973 Top 10 hit and one of band’s most loved songs.

Lyrics

Non dire niente
fra un minuto il giorno nascera’
e l’uomo che io ero morira’
Amica mia
questa casa non e’ casa mia
col primo vento caldo me ne andro’.

Cielo grande cielo blu
quanto spazio c’e’ lassu’
cammino solo e non ti sento piu’.
Cielo grande cielo blu
al mio fianco c’eri tu
e il giorno che nasce
cancella ogni segno di te.

Un giorno insieme
a lanciar sul fiume i sassi e poi
capire cosa siamo in fondo noi.
Amica mia

Cielo grande cielo blu
quanto spazio c’e’ lassu’
cammino solo e non ti sento piu’
Cielo grande cielo blu
quanto spazio c’e’ lassu’
cammino solo e non ti sento piu’
Cielo grande cielo blu
quanto spazio c’e’ lassu’
cammino solo e non ti sento piu’
………………………………………….

Baltimore was an Italy-based new wave-disco project who had a short but notable success in the mid ’80s.
It all started in 1984, when Maurizio Bassi, an Italian music producer, met Jimmy McShane, a talented dancer and bass player, who at that time, was working as an emergency medical technician for the Red Cross in Ireland. Together, and with the help of other Italian musicians, created the Baltimora act, with McShane being the visual frontman of the group and Bassi and Naimy Hackett writing music and lyrics.
Rumour has it that it was Bassi himself who performed lead vocals, while McShane was just lip synching in videoclips and on stage. However, in an Italian TV show from 1987, McShane performed a live duet with Linda Wesley, showing that he might have actually been the Baltimora lead vocal.
Their first single, Tarzan Boy, was a huge success all over Europe (n.6 in the Italian singles chart and n.3 in the UK) and even in the US, where it stayed in the Billboard Hot 100 chart for an amazing 6 months, peaking at n.13 in the spring of 1986. Despite the enormous popularity of Tarzan Boy, Baltimora’s following singles had disappointing sales, so the project was disbanded only after two years.
Jimmy McShane, away from the music scene, settled in Milan, where in 1994 was diagnosed with AIDS. Shortly later he went back to Ireland where he decided to spend the last months of his life. He died in his native Derry on March 1995 at the young age of 37.

Lyrics

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Jungle life
I’m far away from nowhere
on my own like Tarzan Boy
hide and seek
I play along while rushing cross the forest
monkey business on a sunny afternoon

Jungle life
I’m living in the open
native beat that carries on
burning bright
a fire the blows the signal to the sky
I sit and wonder
does the message get to you

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Night to night
gimme the other, gimme the other
chance tonight
gimme the other, gimme the other
night to night
gimme the other, gimme the other world

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Jungle life
you’re far away from nothing
it’s all right
you won’t miss home
take a chance
leave everything behind you
come and join me
won’t be sorry
it’s easy to survive

Jungle life
we’re living in the open
all alone like Tarzan Boy
hide and seek
we play along while rushing cross the forest
monkey business on a sunny afternoon

Night to night
gimme the other, gimme the other
chance tonight
oh yeah
night to night
gimme the other, gimme the other
night to night
you won’t play
night to night
gimme the other, gimme the other
chance tonight
oh yeah
night to night, night to night
gimme the other, gimme the other…

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Andrea Bocelli is not only the great popular tenor we all know, but a multi-instrumentalist as well. As a child, he learned to play the piano, saxophone and flute.
On Nov.3, 2009, he released “My Christmas“, his first Christmas album which went to become the best selling holiday album of the year.
In this video, taken at Bocelli’s home, we see him playing the flute and singing his rendition of the best selling single of all times, “White Christmas“, with Canadian producer and composer David Foster on piano. At the song’s end, he holds a note for 17 long seconds.
This great holiday favorite is sung by Bocelli in English and Italian, and as a single, it cracked the Top 20 in Portugal and Hungary, while the album My Christmas’ worldwide sales exceeded 5 million copies.

Lyrics

I´m dreaming of a white Christmas
just like the ones I used to know
where the treetops glisten
and children listen
to hear sleigh bells in the snow.

E viene giu’ dal ciel, lento
un dolce canto ammaliator
che mi dice: “spera anche tu…
a Natale non soffrire piu’!”

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
with every Christmas card I write
may your days be merry and bright
and may all your Christmases
and may all your Christmases
and may all your Christmases be white

Enrico Ruggeri (born in Milan, 1957) is an Italian singer-songwriter, writer and TV host. He made his debut in 1977 as the leader of the punk band Decibel. Though their first album was a flop, selling only a few hundreds of copies, they will become popular a few years later, thanks to a successful partecipation in the Sanremo Music Festival and a top single.
In 1981 he began the career as a solo singer and established himself as a songwriter. He is on of the few artists to win Sanremo Festival twice, in 1987, in a trio with Gianni Morandi and Umberto Tozzi with their song “Si puo’ dare di piu’ “ and in 1983 with “Mistero”.
After a decade where Ruggeri got numerous praises as both a chansonnier and a songwriter, in the 90′s he is back to rock sound, and reaches the highest selling points of his career.
In 1991, the’album “Peter Pan” gets certified 4-times platinum in a matter of weeks, while the same name single will reach n.2 in the Italian Singles Chart. The song and its videoclip were inspired by the Peter Pan character created by Scottish author James Barrie.

Lyrics

piano quanto vuoi,
come le carezze che non hai.

Dicono che non tornera’,
ma come lo chiamo ci sara’
mi aiutava sempre a fare i compiti.

Vola veloce su di noi,
cosa mi dice tu non sai
vola raccontando quando
non lo sentirai.

Ti confonde, dopo ti riprende,
quando vuole ti cattura
sei sicura che
non lo vuoi con te?
Ti accompagna, mare che ti bagna,
come fosse un temporale
sale dove vuoi,
se ci credi forse lo vedrai.

Chi sei? Dimmi cosa vuoi.
Cosa devi raccontare?
Ci sei? Dimmi come sei.
Moriremo crescendo.
Chi sei? Dimmi come fai
a girare tutto il mondo.
Ci sei? Dove volerai
solamente con la fantasia?

Ti abbandoni, liberi le mani,
non ti piace stare sveglio,
meglio di cosi’
non saremo mai.
Ti confonde, dopo ti riprende,
quando vuole ti cattura,
sei sicura che
non ci credi e non lo vuoi con te?

Chi sei? Dimmi cosa vuoi.
Cosa devi raccontare?
Ci sei? Dove volerai
solamente con la fantasia?

Ti abbandoni, liberi le mani,
non ti picae stare sveglio,
meglio di cosi’
non saremo mai davvero, noi.

Chi sei? Dimmi cosa vuoi.
Cosa devi raccontare?
Ci sei? Dimmi come sei?
Moriremo crescendo.

Chi sei? Dimmi come fai
a girare tutto il mondo?
Sangiorgi’s band brings its unmistakable rock sound to the song with their electric guitars and innovative arrangements which counterbalances Celentano’s enveloping and unique voice, resulting in a mix between present and past which may catch listeners off guard at first, but is nevertheless an interesting and intriguing musical event.
“Non ti accorgevi di me” is essentially a love song, a heartbreaking piece where Celentano is back to tell us about love in all of its facets, from the desire to be loved to the need of mutual love, trying to reach harmony, understanding each other throughly and completely.
This single is taken from the much awaited new album “Facciamo finta che sia vero”, released on Nov. 29th.

Lyrics

era per me

sarebbe meglio sparire ancor piu’ lontano

a far rimanere ancora tu.

Ecco, son pronto a sapere parlare
proprio adesso che voglio soltanto morir
su quelle tue labbra c’e’ ancora posto per me

Ora ti accorgi di me
sulla bocca e negli occhi
e io mi accorgo di te
nelle tue mani insistenti.

Avro’ paura di te
ora che io so sentirti
avrai paura di me
perché ho imparato ad odiarti.

Perche’ ho imparato ad odiarti
perche’ ho imparato ad odiarti…

Il Guardiano del Faro (alias of Federico Monti Arduini, born in Milan, 1940) is a renowned Italian composer, songwriter and music producer.
In the 60′s he mainly worked at the Bluebell record label, producing records for several Italian and international artists, such as Frankie Avalon and Gino Vannelli. He also wrote songs for several singers like Mina, Gigliola Cinquetti and Wess & Dori Ghezzi.
But Monti Arduini became more famous when, with his pseudonym Il Guardiano del Faro (“The Lighthouse Keeper”), he composed and played many instrumental works based on the use of a moog synthesizer, featuring a music style halfway between classical production and a refined instrumental pop.
Amore grande amore libero, a poignant and nostalgic piece is no doubt his most successful composition. It won the Disco per l’Estate song competition in 1975, and stayed for five weeks at n.1 in the Italian Singles chart.
