Andrea Bocelli (born in Lajatico, Tuscany, 1958) is an internationally popular Italian tenor. Born with poor eyesight, he became totally blind at 12 following an accident. After winning the Newcomers section of the Sanremo Music Festival in 1994, the following year he makes another entry in the contest, with “Con te partiro’“, finishing 4th.  Although the song didnt get much airplay in Italy, it was a massive hit in many countries. In Belgium, it stayed to #1 single chart for 12 weeks, making it the biggest hit of all time. Since then, he has sold over 70 millions copies of his albums worldwide, becoming the the biggest-selling solo artist in the history of classical music.  In 2010 he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
