Alex Baroni, born Alessandro (Milan, 1966 – Rome, 2002) was an Italian pop and soul singer, often named “The Italian Stevie Wonder” thanks to his remarkable vocal extension and voice tone quite similar to the American singer’s.
He began his career in the early 90′s, singing in Milan clubs, while he followed through a parallel activity as a chemist teacher. He soon became a respected backing vocalist of famous artists, such as Eros Ramazzotti and Ivana Spagna.
In 1997 he debutes at the Sanremo Music Festival in the “Newcomers” category with his entry “Cambiare“, getting a great success with critics and audience and winning the award “Best voice”for his performance, and a second one “the Volare award” as the most quality song of the Festival.
In the following four years, he will publish two successful studio albums, engage in a strenuous 2-year tour, including free concerts for his fans and other charity ones, and start useful as well as quite expensive collaborations with several British stars, like George Michael, Simon Le Bon and Boy George.
On March 19, 2002 Baroni is victim of a car crash in Rome. His motorcycle collides with a car, he’s thrown off and run over by a second car arriving at a high speed.  His conditions seem quite desperate. Rushed to the Santo Spirito hospital, he will die on April 13, after three weeks in a coma.
Baroni was in a relationship with singer Giorgia in the last four years of his life.
